Cinde-Raver

Here's another Cinderella - the pic is from Cinderella III (I guess we're not the only ones who can't get enough of the girl). In the story Stepmom has stolen the magic wand, said "Bibiddy-bobbidy-boo!" and changed the past so Princey marries one of the step sistahs.

In this pic Cindy has snuck into the castle and dressed as a maid in order to get to the Prince.

Original Pic: Cindy's holding a mop and an unlabeled bucket. I erased the mop part and drew a sign on the end of the handle and then added some words to the bucket. I also added some ugly ruffles to the hem of her dress and then used some really revolting colors to finish off the effect.

Crapper-ella

Make no mistake, Cinderella is indeed our favorite to parody. Somehow she just sparks our imagination- it must be the Disney magic.

Original: I think you'll typically find that Disney generally avoids depicting bodily functions of animal and human alike. Also Twisted Sistah added the thought bubble.

Our favorite detail: Cinderella's left hand- delightfully grotesque.

Cooking with Cinderella

Cinderella has truly become our favorite Disney princess. For some unknown reason the artists who draw her in books always make her look psychotic. Generally, it's seen in the eyes.

Original Picture: No speech bubble, no arm or bowl, no tail in her mouth, no title on book's spine. Also, I changed Gus' face, added a right arm being inserted into his mouth and made a pee spot. I should emphasize - her eyes HAVE NOT been changed at all.

It also looks like Jacques is pointing to another mouse like, "Not me, eat her!"
You can see part of two of my fingers that must have been sticking out when I scanned this page into the computer...

Domestic Goddess

I guess Barbie took "skin tight" clothing one step further...

Original text: "Only a few finishing touches left."
Original picture - clearly, no blood, torso or pain-seized arms.

Pinocchio

NOTICE: If you are new to this blog we encourage you to start from the bottom post and read up. This blog is rather new, so you don't have too much catching up.

This was a very early entry - circa 2001 - by Twisted Sistah. It was actually the very first time a picture was altered. Can you guess what the original drawing was?
Original: When Twisted Sistah first saw the original, unaltered page in the coloring book she thought to herself, "What in the world could prompt that kind of response/expression from Geppetto?" Then it came to her. The only change Twisted Sistah made was to erase part of Pino's hands and then draw in the severed arm of the Blue Fairy. Pino's saccharine-sweet smile and Geppetto's revulsion were what the coloring book artist originally drew.

Before and After, Part One of Two

By way of example, here is a Little Mermaid page before I defiled it:

And here's after: I thought how odd she looked; reaching up towards that really bright star like she was offering it something. So I added a bloody heart in her hand and a caption.

Let's Start at the Very Beginning

What is Color Me Psycho?
A Web-site displaying the coloring books we've defaced over the years.

How did it start?
Initially it started out innocently enough. We were teenagers who wanted to "artistically" color, like so:

Nice, but boring. Then one fateful day in 1996, everything changed. One of our brilliant friends simply added a caption to an "Emperor's New Clothes" page:

Suddenly, our entire world changed. We realized that adding a few humorous words could COMPLETELY alter the meaning of the coloring book page. But we didn't stop there...
Soon we learned how to change the pictures themselves. We could take things out or draw them in - all by hand, of course.

Finally, we got to the point where we can alter the picture AND add a caption. The original picture had a bug sitting between the puppy's eyes. Twisted Sistah removed it, drew in a lump, brick and lop-sided smile and PRESTO! Instant hilarity.

Remember, that these images HAVE NOT been altered digitally. We scanned the pages directly from the coloring books - that's why some of the edges are shadowy - but all of the work was done by hand. In order to protect our true identities, after we scanned the pages into the computer we removed our signatures (Can you blame us? This stuff, while a laugh riot, is pretty incriminating). But that is the only way these coloring book pages have been altered digitally.

Thus ends the tutorial. We’ll be adding a new picture as often as we can so check back often and tell your friends! We LOVE comments so please let us know what you think. Also, you can email us at thatissowrong@gmail.com. Enjoy!
